The Real Story

Back in 1982, I flew out of NIU (Northern Illinois University) as a brand new chick waiting to put my degree in Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Science to work! Decided to focus on food service, didn’t really believe in all the “stuff” about nutrition. Even went back to school to punish myself more (only kidding, I love school and am a perpetual student). Thought I’d get the ol’ Master of Science… in Health Care Administration. Went on to do an internship and became a Registered Dietitian! Yippee! Still focused on food service, both in management, then on to sales. Got burnt out… so much time at work, so few rewards… took a break and began working at a restaurant as a banquet captain and server (for what was supposed to be… just a short time). This led me to truly enjoy a life of travel… 3-4 BIG vacations a year and I knew I would someday do something else… Went about my merry life until…

BOOM! Bad test scores (not the GRE’s). Oh My God… How could I have such high cholesterol (not the good kind either)? High triglycerides? High blood pressure? WOW! I was stunned. But I did NOT want to go on meds. I knew that they produced side effects. There had to be options. I did a little research on my own. I looked into supplements, herbal remedies, and alternative medicine practices… I was amazed at what was out there.

So, I started a regimen that would turn my life around! I decided to take a long, hard look at my life and myself. I talked to my chiropractor about doing a detox. I knew it would help and I wanted a new challenge! I also went back to my textbooks, I attended seminars on detox from leading medical researchers and met with representatives from nutritional supplement companies. The result… After doing several detoxes myself, and assisting many of my friends and clients… Drum roll please… I found my passion! To encourage, coach and teach everyone about Detoxing! Because Everybody Needs Detox (hence my corporate name). Now of course, there are a few indications where it is not advisable, but overall we ALL need to detox!

Wisdom shared by my mother, Joan T. Nelson, who battled with Hodgkin’s disease (a type of cancer) for over 7 years. Sadly she died in 1978, but her warm thoughts and laughter are always with me.

“Maintain your car and it’ll last forever!”

Practical advice expressed over and over again by my dad, Cliff Nelson, a lifetime certified mechanic.  The ingenuity and creativeness of this site was fostered by his influence.  He struggled with lung and bone cancer, also dying at an early age.
